Recent Accusations Against the Salvation Army
August 16, 2019
SPOKANE, WASH - Spokane mayoral candidate Nadine Woodward issued the following statement this evening regarding the recent accusations against the Salvation Army.
"The Salvation Army has been serving the Spokane community for nearly 130 years. Their mission is to rescue, renew and restore the individuals to live independent and productive lives, and to meet human need without discrimination - this goal is accomplished every single day. Recently, my opponent made misguided and divisive comments suggesting discrimination by our local Salvation Army. This kind of behavior is toxic and creates barriers to productive dialogue. As your next mayor, I will work to support the Salvation Army in their continuing mission to positively serve Spokane. To their team, thank you for seeing that every person has value and for helping them move forward out of darkness and into a productive role in our community"
